On the Walls

May 5, 2014

A friend from work and her husband just navigated the treacherous D.C. housing market and came out on the other side with a great new house. One of the things she wants to update is one of the bathrooms with wallpaper. There are a lot of beautiful options out there, as wallpaper is coming back into favor on the decor scene. Gone are the country prints and gaudy colors of the 70’s and 80’s, replaced by stylish flowers, cool patterns, and blocked prints.

Here are some that I liked and hopefully she does too! What are your thoughts about wallpaper?

These bold patterns above are really cool if you want to make a statement. The one on the left is Schumacher Chenonceau. This asian-inspired Kate Ridder is similar to the orange hued bathroom above.

For something a little more understated, I also love Kate Ridder’s leaf pattern paper. And for a similar color blocked look Serena and Lily’s Jaipur wallpaper is gorgeous.

Also popular recently are birds and floral prints. These are some that I thought were pretty (and not overly “Grandma!”). Schumacher and Graham and Brown have beautiful options. And this green leaf wallpaper is very beautiful but very pricey.

And if you decide not to go the printed route, I am a big fan of grasscloth on the walls, the texture is so pretty and rich looking.
