Oh oh Domino (it’s all right)

September 16, 2011

Do you remember Domino Magazine? Domino was a fabulous shelter magazine aimed at helping stylish people, like us, furnish and decorate our homes in a way that reflects our personal style. Unfortunately, the economic downturn a few years ago led to the downfall of Domino as many magazine publishers were forced to tighten their belts. This was a devastating development for many loyal readers, including me. Thank goodness I have this bad habit of taking a really long time to get things to the recycling bin, so I still have many of the issues and look at them regularly! They also came out with an interior design book a couple of years ago, which I own and is currently on long-term loan with a friend who recently bought a house.

Thankfully in 2009 Michelle Adams, a former assistant at Domino co-created Lonny Magazine  an online shelter magazine that is VERY similar to what Domino was in print. I know what you are thinking: you like to hold a magazine and rip out pics, and it’s not the same. Trust me, I am a huge fan of hard cover mags, but with the ability to bookmark links and with sites like Pinterest can help supplement your collection of inspirational photos of decor you might someday re-create for yourself.  After Lonny’s many other online shelter magazines began popping up  like Rue Magazine, High Gloss, Matchbook and Trad Home. Trad Home is actually a collaboration between Lonny and Traditional Home Magazine.   Many of them cover a combination of topics including design, fashion, etiquette, and party planning. If you are anything like me, and you just can’t get enough magazines these online publications will be something you look forward to getting in your Inbox.

Do you currently read any of these magazines?  Which is your favorite?
